Upgrade of Forums

Postby LordArt » Thu May 05, 2011 12:18 am

As you have probably notice, the forums don't quite look the same as they use to. I've upgraded the board to phpBB v3 (from v2). I've wanted to do this for a while, but I haven't had the time. I know the security on the newer versions is tighter, which is one of the reasons I wanted to upgrade the software. That and I know there is a bunch of other things the new forums can handle. I will be slowly playing with things to get them just right, so don't be surprised if things change.

As a note, the default theme has a color changer on it. If you look in the upper right hand corner under the search box, left of the time, you'll see this tiny up arrow. Click it, and you can choose the coloring of this theme. Other themes are available as well. So have fun with it!

Needless to say, if you are having problems with the new board, tell me, and I'll see what can be done.

As an update, there is an Atom feed active from the board now (think RSS feed).

The URL is
Code: Select all
http://www.omnimancy.com/phpBB3/feed.php

For those that have access to the hidden forums, you can use this instead
Code: Select all
http://www.omnimancy.com/phpBB3/feed.php?auth=http

Your reader will need to provide credentials of course, or if it is via your browser, it should do so automatically (or at least prompt you for it). (Yes, I activated all of this so I could have it on my Android phone)

BTW, if for some reason you can't login to the forums anymore, just reset your password using the "I forgot my password" thing. Not all passwords converted right (they were just MD5 hashes anyways).

For anyone who's looking, subsilver seems to be closest to the original theme...just a few minor changes.

Personally, I'm now using the "view unread" posts as JPo pointed out, mostly because the "view new" may or may not catch everything (which was always an issue with the older version.)
