Out of curiosity, why was this particular name chosen for the con, and is there any connection to the play "The Crucible" written by Arthur Miller?

Not at all. Honestly, we were searching for a name, and it sounded cool. Crucible was/is meant as a melting pot of different magical traditions to show who they are and what they are about.
