What is an IRC?What is an IRC & how does it work?
![]() ![]()
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. Basically, if your not local to OmniCore or OmniNorth, the only other way to teach is via the internet. It's not a prefered method, but it does work, but learning omnimancy requires live interaction(because Omnimancy is very hands on, rather than theoretical) which a chat system allows for.
These teaching sessions are done on a IRC system, because the server in question is our server, rather than a "borrowed" one. It allows rooms so that a teacher and student can converse one-on-one to allow for personalized teaching(sounds dirty, but it isn't. ![]() All IRC requires is an IRC client. If you are framiliar with AIM or MSN Messenger, the concepts aren't too different. IRC is basically a precursor to those other instant message client systems. IRC offers other features which aren't as easily done on other systems. There is a page on the site that you get access to once your accepted that details further about how to get to our IRC server and what you would need to do. It's not complex at all. I hope that answers your question. Arthur Oh, and as a suggestion, please stop color coding your posts. Many of us aren't using the standard "silver" theme, so the darker colored fonts are harder to read on the theme which we use (which has a dark backround). If you use the default color, it auto-switches so everyone can see what your writting clearly. Thanks.
